Isosurface

Isosurfaces (3D volumetric renderings) represent an approach to GPR visualisation, often used in conjunction with GPR time slices. To create a 3D isosurface, a series of time slices are stacked and a 3D surface is generated around a threshold value. The threshold value is user-defined, where too high a threshold will create a 3D solid over the entire survey area, and too low a threshold will produce no 3D shapes. In general, a 50% threshold should be considered as an initial setting for best results.

Isosurfaces can be useful in modelling voids, pipes and rebar, or buried archeological features.
